My Top 8 Central Auckland Coffee Shops

1. Moin Moin Kaffehaus, Durham Lane

Nestled down Durham Lane just off Queen Street is this hidden gem. Many of you will know this little spot as the previous home of the Little and Friday Tuckshop. I was really disappointed when this closed down but Moin Moin is doing an awesome job of filling the gap Little & Friday left. Moin Moin does amazing Supreme espresso coffee and also sells a variety of macarons and other sweet treats. Service is very genuine and friendly as well.

2.  Ceremony Company, Grafton

This is a great spot for all of you Med students or those who just enjoy a walk across the bridge during your breaks. Ceremony Company is a small coffee shop and cafe just past Grafton Bridge on Park Road. They cafe’s interior is very groovy looking and they do great Flight Coffee. Definitely check it out if you find yourself on that side of the bridge.

3. Eighthirty, High Street or Anzac Ave

If your on the hunt for good coffee definitely check out any of eighthirty’s cafes. I generally go down to the Anzac Ave store as it’s literally just down the road from Auckland Uni and I’ve always been super impressed. They also offer a selection of different food and other drinks as well as sparkling water on the house which is always a major bonus for me.

4. Holm, Karangahape Road

Holm is a speciality coffee house down K’road. They do incredible coffee in basically anyway you would want. As well as making great espresso coffee, they also have batch brew and hand brew filter on offer. They also have a small food menu with a selection of yummy toast options, sandwiches and muesli. Their service is very friendly and informative, they definitely know what they are talking about when it comes to coffee.

5. Quad Cafe, Auckland Uni Campus

My top coffee spots list could not be complete without a shout out to my go to cafe on campus. The Quad Cafe does awesome Allpress coffee for a good price. They charge $3.80 for a regular flat white and are the cheapest spot at uni to grab a coffee. The coffee is not only the cheapest but is the best I’ve tried at Uni. I’ve tried all the cafe’s at the City campus and I’ve come to the conclusion that Shaky Isles can be a hit or miss, and The Bean Belt is a bit of a disaster when it comes to coffee. If you’re on campus at Auckland Uni and in need of a caffiene fix, then definitely give this place a go!

6. Bones, Vulcan Lane

Bones is a cool little hole-in-wall cafe down the Queen Street end of Vulcan Lane replacing the spot of an old ANZ atm. Bones is another speciality coffee place and focuses solely on selling coffee. They do classic espresso, filter and cold brew. Try the cold brew with ‘dirty milk’ (half normal, half condensed milk) it’s incredible!

7. Bestie, Karangahape Road

I know I’ve already given Bestie a little write up, but I couldn’t not put them on this list as well. As well as being an awesome place to grab a bite to eat, they also make some incredible coffee out of their gorgeous bright yellow La Marzocco machine. Bestie does great eighthirty coffee in espresso and filter form. The filter coffee can be refillable for an extra $2 which is a really awesome deal. Bestie has heaps of seating space and can be a good spot to get some study done for a couple of hours while sipping on some delicious filter coffee.

8. Chuffed Coffee, High Street

Half way down High Street you can spot the bright Chuffed sign pointing down a corridor to another one of Auckland’s hidden gems. Chuffed is a great little cafe with an awesome selection of food and great coffee options. They use “Be Speciality” Coffee for their espresso, and then they also offer cold drip and batch brew. Chuffed has really friendly and welcoming service. Chuffed is a great spot to get your morning coffee from + their takeaway cups are awesome!
